Disable HTML tags in a text field

I want to make sure my users cannot entire an entire webpage instead of a text box, is is possible to disable usage of HTML tags inside of a text box? Thank you!

For now, the only way to do this is to create a custom input and extend value_setter and setValue methods with some regexp:

Thank you! That set me on the right track. For reference here is my solution(this click function is inside of a button):
