When using selectFilter in Datatable values aren't appearing

I need to have a drop down in the header of a datatable but it’s function isn’t going to be to filter the datatable. I need to use it for something else so I’ve canceled filtering on the datatable. When I use it this way my data doesn’t show up in their columns. How can I fix that?
